6/20/2023 0 Comments Fever dream grrmHe seems to have a lot of women die at birth. I also noted the fact that mothers died at birth. It was a very strong description, which reminded me of the Others. Off the top of my head, I remember his describing someone as having violet eyes and another having eyes that were cold as ice. I bookmarked some pages, but I have them in my iPad, whereas I'm in my desktop now. I of course, was looking for every little thing that reminded me of ASoIF. Actually, there was nothing I disliked about him as I connected him with GRRM. I really liked that about him as a character. There is a certain sense of humor that pertains to the South and I saw that in Capt. Since I live in the South it's interesting to read terms and sayings that are still with us. Marsh as a rough and tumble not educated working Southern captain. To some of us of a certain age, legalized racism isn't fiction or a far away reality either. His portrayal of those days is very accurate but it is still difficult to read and remember. I think that it's just hard for some of us to read about African-Americans being called the n word and for slaves speaking the way they did. In no way he implied that GRRM is politically incorrect. I'm not speaking for him, but I understand what Howling meant about political correctness. Unfortunately, I couldn't get this out of my mind and I felt really empathetic about him.
